  • 简介:Core-shellstructurednanosphereswithmesoporoussilicashellandNicore(denotedasNi@meso-SiO2)arepreparedthroughathree-stepprocess.MonodispersedNiprecursorsarefirstprepared,andthencoatedwithmesoporousSiO2.FinalNi@meso-SiO2spheresareobtainedaftercalcination.TheproductsarecharacterizedbyX-raypowderdiffraction,transmissionelectronmicroscopyandN2adsorption-desorptionmethods.Thesesphereshaveahighsurfaceareaandarewelldispersedinwater,showingahighcatalyticactivitywithaTOFvalueof18.5,andoutstandingstabilityinhydrolyticdehydrogenationofammoniaboraneatroomtemperature.

  • 简介:'Giant'CdSe/CdScore/shellnanocrystals(NCs)weresynthesizedwiththickCdSshell(15monolayers),andthex-raydiffraction(XRD)measurementindicatesthereisazincblendephaseinthethickCdSshell,whereasittransformedintowurtzitephaseunder5minradiationwitha400nm,594μJ∕cm2femtosecond(fs)laserbeam.TheevolutionoftheNCs’spontaneousemissionunderthefslaserradiationwasrecordedwithaHamamatsustreakcamera.Theas-synthesizedNCsexhibitanamplifiedspontaneousemission(ASE)at530nm,whichcomesfromabulk-likeCdSshellduetotheinterfacialpotentialbarrier,whichcouldslowdowntherelaxationofholesfromtheshelltothecore.Afterbeingannealedbyanfslaser,theASEoftheg-NCsistransferredfromabulk-likeCdSshelltoaquantum-confinedCdSecorebecausethephasetransformationdeterminedwiththeXRDmeasurementcouldremovetheinterfacialbarrier.BesidestheASEat643nm,twoshorter-wavelengthASEpeaksat589and541nm,correspondingtoopticaltransitionsofthesecond(1P)andthird(1D)electronquantizationshellsoftheCdSecore,alsoappear,thusindicatingthatAugerrecombinationiseffectivelysuppressed.

  • 简介:Coremodecutoffisausefulconceptnotonlyforataperedsingle-corefiber(SCF)butalsoforataperedmulticorefiber(MCF)torealizecladdingmodetransmission.Inthispaper,cut-offconditionsofeithercoremodefortaperedSCFsorsupermodesforMCFsaretheoreticallyinvestigated.RigorousanalyticalformulasarederivedforthemodesofSCFbyathree-layerwaveguidemodel,andanapproximationformulaofthecut-offconditionisgivenfortheLP01mode.ThesupermodesofMCFsareanalyzedbythecouplingmodetheory,andthecut-offconditioniscalculatedbyanumericalmethod.Simulationresultsshowthatthein-phasesupermodeofMCFshasasimilarcut-offconditionwiththatofSCF.Basedonthisproperty,aconvenientapproximateformulaisgiventoestimatethecut-offconditionofthein-phasesupermodefortaperedMCFs.

  • 简介:Weproposeanddemonstrateataperedhollowannularcorefiber(HACF)couplerforexcitationofwhisperinggallerymodes(WGMs)ofanembeddedmicrosphereresonator.ThecouplerissimplyfabricatedbyfusionsplicingofasegmentofHACFwiththesingle-modefiber(SMF),andthenimprovedbytaperingthesplicingjointtoreducethecone-apexangle.Therefore,thecouplingefficiencyfromtheSMFtotheHACFisenhancedtoexcitevariousWGMsviaevanescentfieldcoupling.Normalpositive,negativesymmetricalLorentzianandasymmetricFanolineshapescanbeobtainedbyvaryingtheresonatorsizeandlocation.AnotherinterestingphenomenonisobservedthatahigherQ-factormodeinalowerQ-factormodehasacontrastashighas58.Temperaturesensingwithgoodstabilityisalsodemonstrated.ThisembeddedWGMmicrosphereresonatorinthetaperedHACFisexpectedtopromoteenvironmentaladaptabilityinpracticalapplicationsduetoitssimplicityandrobustness.

  • 简介:Understandingbendlossinsingle-ringhollow-corephotoniccrystalfibers(PCFs)isbecomingofincreasingimportanceasthefibersenterpracticalapplications.Whilepurelynumericalapproachesareuseful,thereisaneedforasimpleranalyticalformalismthatprovidesphysicalinsightandcanbedirectlyusedinthedesignofPCFswithlowbendloss.Weshowtheoreticallyandexperimentallythatawavelength-dependentcriticalbendradiusexistsbelowwhichthebendlossreachesamaximum,andthatthiscanbecalculatedfromthestructuralparametersofafiberusingasimpleanalyticalformula.Thisallowsstraightforwarddesignofsingle-ringPCFsthatarebend-insensitiveforspecifiedrangesofbendradiusandwavelength.Italsocanbeusedtoderiveanexpressionforthebendradiusthatyieldsoptimalhigher-ordermodesuppressionforagivenfiberstructure.

  • 简介:Fiber-opticlaser–ultrasoundgenerationisbeingusedinanincreasingnumberofapplications,includingmedicaldiagnosis,materialcharacterization,andstructuralhealthmonitoring.However,mostcurrentlyusedfiber-opticultrasonictransducersalloweffectiveultrasoundgenerationatonlyasinglelocation,namely,atthefibertip,althoughtherehavebeenafewlimitedproposalsforachievingmultipointultrasoundgenerationalongthelengthofafiber.Herewepresentanovelfiber-opticultrasoundtransducerthatusesthecore-offsetsplicingoffiberstoeffectivelygenerateultrasoundatmultiplelocationsalongthefiber.Theproposedlaser–ultrasonictransducercanproduceabalancedstrengthsignalbetweenultrasonicgenerationpointsbyreasonablycontrollingtheoffsetsofthefibers.Theproposedtransducerhasotheroutstandingcharacteristics,includingsimplefabricationandlowcost.

  • 简介:Weproposeanovelwaveguidedesignofpolarization-maintainingfewmodefiber(PM-FMF)supporting≥10non-degeneratemodes,utilizingacentralcircularairholeandacircumjacentelliptical-ringcore.Thestructureendowsanewdegreeoffreedomtoadjustthebirefringenceofalltheguidedmodes,includingthefundamentalpolarizationmode.Numericalsimulationsdemonstratethat,byoptimizingtheairholeandelliptical-ringcore,aPM-FMFsupporting10distinctivepolarizationmodeshasbeenachieved,andtheeffectiveindexdifferenceΔneffbetweentheadjacentguidedmodescouldbekeptlargerthan1.32×10-4overthewholeC+Lband.TheproposedfiberstructurecanflexiblytailoredtosupportanevenlargernumberofmodesinPM-FMF(14-modePM-FMFhasbeendemonstratedasanexample),whichcanbereadilyapplicabletoascalablemodedivisionmultiplexingsystem.
