  • 简介:Thecapabilityandreliabilityarecrucialcharacteristicsofmobilerobotswhilenavigatingincomplexenvironments.Theserobotsareexpectedtoperformmanyusefultaskswhichcanimprovethequalityoflifegreatly.Robotlocalizationanddecisionmakingarethemostimportantcognitiveprocessesduringnavigation.However,mostofthesealgorithmsarenotefficientandarechallengingtaskswhilerobotsnavigatethroughcomplexenvironments.Inthispaper,weproposeabiologicallyinspiredmethodforrobotdecision-making,basedonrat’sbrainsignals.Rodentsaccuratelyandrapidlynavigateincomplexspacesbylocalizingthemselvesinreferencetothesurroundingenvironmentallandmarks.Firstly,weanalyzedtherats’strategieswhilenavigatinginthecomplexY-maze,recordedlocalfieldpotentials(LFPs),simultaneously.TherecordedLFPswereprocessedanddifferentfeatureswereextractedwhichwereusedastheinputintheartificialneuralnetwork(ANN)topredicttherat’sdecision-makingineachjunction.TheANNperformancewastestedinarealrobotandgoodperformanceisachieved.Theimplementationofourmethodonarealrobot,demonstratesitsabilitiestoimitatetherat’sdecision-makingandintegratetheinternalstateswithexternalsensors,inordertoperformreliablenavigationincomplexmaze.

  • 简介:PolysaccharideextractedfromEnteromorphaproliferapossessedexcellentbiologicalactivities,butitsmolecularweightwasgreatlyhighwhichinfluencedtheactivity.OrganicSehadhigherbiologicalactivitiesandwassaferthaninorganicSespecies.Inthepresentstudy,Enteromorphapolysaccharidewasdegradedtolowmolecularweightbyfree-radicaldegradationmethodofH2O2andascorbicacid.Bysinglefactorandorthogonalexperiments,theoptimaldegradationconditionswerereactiontimeof2h,reactiontemperatureof50℃,H2O2/ascorbicacid(n/n=1:1)concentrationof15mmolL-1,andsolid-liquidratioof1:50(gmL-1).Then,thedegradedpolysaccharidewaschemicallymodifiedtoobtainitsselenidederivativesbynitricacid-sodiumselenitemethod.Theseleniumcontentwas1137.29μgg?1,whilethecontentofsulfateradicalhadnochange.IRspectraindicatedthattheseleniteestergroupwasformed.Degradedpolysaccharideselenidewascharacterizedandevaluatedforantioxidant,antifungalandantibacterialactivities.TheresultsshowedthatdegradedpolysaccharideselenidehadstrongcapacityofscavengingDPPHand·OHfreeradical.IthadsignificantantibacterialpropertiesforEscherichiacoli,BacillussubtilisandSalmonellaspp.,anditalsohadsignificantantifungalpropertiesforAppleanthrax.Theresultascertaineddegradationandselenylationmodificationdidnotchangethemainstructureofpolysaccharides.Itwaspossiblethatfree-radicaldegradationwasaneffectivewayforenhancingantioxidantactivitytodecreasemolecularweightofpolysaccharides.

  • 简介:GreenhousehorticulturalproductioncurrentlyrepresentsanimportantandgrowdngsectorofCanada'sfoodandplantproducproductionsystems.Since2006,thevalueofgreenhousevegetablecropsinCanadaexceedsthatoffieldgrowncrops,signalinganimportantshiftinthew-ayfoodiscultivatedinthecountry.Whilemanyfactorshavecontributedtothischange,amajorareaofinnovationincludesthediscoveriesandadvancesmadeinthedevelopmentofcommercialgreenhouseproductionsystemsaswellastheintegrationofbiologicalcontrolstrategiesforsustainablepestmanagement.Withthisfocus,thisreviewoffersabriefoverviewoftheCanadiangreenhouseindustry,includingadescriptivelistofcommonlyusedbiologicalcontrolorganisms,aswellastheroleCanadianresearchhasplayedinthedevelopmentoftheseagents.WealsoaddressthethreatsthatCanadiangreenhouseproducersfacebyinvasivepestsandthecomplicationsthesehavecreatedforthecommercializationofnovelbiologicalcontrolagents.Thisinformationmayserveasaguideforthedevelopmentofparalleltechnologiesandtoolsinotherpartsoftheworldwheregreenhouseproductionisexpanding.
