  • 简介:Soilsalinityisoneofthemostimportantproblemsofcropproductioninestuarineandcoastalzones.Improvementinsalttoleranceofmajorfoodcropsisanimportantwayfortheeconomicutilizationofcoastalzones.Thisstudyprovedthattheapplicationofsalicylicacid(SA)improvedthegrowthandyieldundersaltstressconditionsandinvestigateditsphysiologicalmechanismsforsalttolerance.TheinvestigationontheeffectofSAforsalttoleranceduringgerminationshowedthatthedecreasedratesofgerminationandgrowth(intermsofshootandrootlengths)bythesaltstressweresignificantlyincreasedbytheSAapplication(SA+NaCl).ThetreatmentofSAtothehighandlowsalinesoilsenhancedthegrowth,yieldandnutrientvaluesofrice.TheeffectsofSAonNa+,K+andCl–ionicaccumulationweretracedundersaltstressconditionbyinductivelycoupledplasmaopticalemissionspectrometryandionchromatography.ItwasrevealedthattheincreasedaccumulationofNa+andClˉionsbythesaltstresswerereducedbySAapplication.AnincreasedconcentrationofendogenousSAlevelwasdetectedfromtheSA-treatedricevarieties(ASD16andBR26)byliquidchromatographyelectrosprayIonization-tandemmassspectrometry.Theactivitiesofantioxidantenzymessuchassuperoxidedismutase,catalaseandperoxidasewereincreasedbysaltstresswhereasdecreasedbytheSAapplication.ThestudyprovedthattheapplicationofSAcouldalleviatetheadverseeffectsofsaltstressbytheregulationofphysiologicalmechanisminriceplants.Inspiteofsaltstress,itcanbeappliedtothecoastalandestuarineregionstoincreasethericeproduction.

  • 简介:Propertiesofthesoilsurfacelayer,thetemporalpatternofthemicroclimatevariablesaswellascropconditionwerecombinedtoanalyzethecharacteristicsoftheevapotranspirationfromwinterwheatfieldsinasalinesoilarea.Inordertoaccomplishthisanalysis,evapotranspirationwasdividedintoevaporationfromthesoilandtranspirationfromwheat.Moreover,theeffectofsoilsalinityonevapotranspirationwasevaluatedthroughtherelationshipbetweenactualevapotranspirationandpotentialevapotranspiration(Ea/Eo)andthetotalsoilwaterpotential(ψ)wasdividedintotwocomponents:matricpotential(ψM)andosmoticpotential(ψo).Twositeswithdifferentsalinitylevelswerechosenforthisstudy,locatedinHebeiProvince,China.MeasurementswereconductedinApril-May1997andMay1998.TheBowenratiomethodwasusedtoestimatetheactualevapotranspiration(Ea),whereaspotentialevapotranspiration(Eo)wasestimatedusingPenman'sequation.Measurementsofsoilevaporation(Es)wereobtainedwithmicro-lysimeters,andtranspirationwascalculatedfromthedifferencebetweenEaandEs.Theresultsshowthattranspirationcomprisedonaveragealmost80%oftotalevapotranspiration.Evaporationfromthesoildifferedslightlybetweenyears,butthisvariationwasdominatedbytheleafareaindex(LAI),whichrangedfrom4to5duringthestudyperiodof1997and1998.Soilelectricconductivity(EC),whichisdirectlyrelatedtoosmoticpotential,rangedfrom1.9to3.5mScm-1in1997andwasnegligiblein1998.Ourresultsindicatethatlowerosmoticpotentialdecreasesthetotalsoilwaterpotential,thusaffectingplanttranspiration.Hence,itispossibletosaythatsoilsalinityactuallydecreasesevapotranspirationfromwinterwheatfields.

  • 简介:Gradingprocedureinroutineseacucumberhatcheryproductionisthoughttoaffectjuvenileseacucumberimmunologicalresponse.Thepresentstudyinvestigatedtheimpactofa3-minmechanicalperturbationmimickingthegradingprocedureonneuroendocrineandimmuneparametersoftheseacucumberApostichopusjaponicus.Duringtheapplicationofstress,concentrationsofnoradrenalineanddopamineincoelomicfluidincreasedsignificantly,indicatingthatthemechanicalperturbationresultedinatransientstateofstressinseacucumbers.Coelomocytesconcentrationincoelomicfluidincreasedtransientlyafterthebeginningofstressing,andreachedthemaximumin1h.Whereas,coelomocytesphagocytosisat3min,superoxideanionproductionfrom3minto0.5h,acidphosphataseactivityat0.5h,andphenoloxidaseactivityfrom3minto0.5hwereallsignificantlydown-regulated.Alloftheimmuneparametersrecoveredtobaselinelevelsaftertheexperimentwasconductedfor8h,andanimmunostimulationoccurredafterthestressconsideringthephagocytosisandacidphosphataseactivity.Theresultssuggestedthat,asinothermarineinvertebrates,neuroendocrine/immuneconnectionsexistinseacucumberA.japonicus.Mechanicalstresscanelicitaprofoundinfluenceonseacucumberneuroendocrinesystem.Neuroendocrinemessengersactinturntomodulatetheimmunityfunctions.Therefore,theseeffectsshouldbeconsideredfordevelopingbetterhusbandryprocedures.

  • 简介:Thestrainmonitoringandstressanalysisofanewtypeofpost-prestressedtunnellinerwerecarriedout.Theinstrumentationblockofthetunnelliner,withthedimensionsof12.06minlength,6500mmindiameter,and650mminthickness,waspost-prestressedwiththeunbondedtendons,eachofwhichconsistsof8piecesofdouble-loopedstrandsandtheaxialspacingofthetendonsis500mm.Concretestrainmeters,rebarmeters,loadcellandzero-stressmeterswereinstalledforthestrainmonitoring.Thetensioningloadswereappliedincrementallyinthreecycles(50%,77%and100%)attheconcreteageof28dandthetensioningworklastedfor187.1h.Strainreadingsweretakenbeforeandaftereachcycleduringtensioningperiodandatthespecifiedtimeintervalaftertensioningperiod.Itisfoundthatconcretecreepdevelopedovertensioningperiodis30%oftotalstrainand41.5%ofelasticstrainrespectively.Prestressforceintheunbondedtendonandconcretestressinthelinerwereevaluatedaccordingtotheobservedstrainvariations.Bothofthemaretime-dependent,andabout5.3%,8.3%and9.0%oftheprestresslossesareobservedattheageof1d,30dand60drespectivelyafterstressing.Thedistributionofprestressinthelinerisrelativelyuniformandmeetsthedesignrequirement.

  • 简介:Objective:Toobservetheeffectsofthermalstressonproliferationofhumanvascularendothelialcells(VECs)andexploreitssignificance.Methods:ChangesofVECsproliferationwereinvestigatedwith3H-TdRincorporationmethodafterECV304wastreatedat43℃for2hours,whileexpressionsofintercellularadhesionmolecule-1(ICAM-1),inhibitorofdifferentiation-1(ID1),andP16andP21proteinsweredeterminedbyWesternBlotting.Results:TheeffectofinhibitionofVECsgrowthafterthermalstresswasdetectedby3H-TdRincorporationexperiment.WesternblottingshowedICAM-1,amarkerofactivatedendothelialcells,wasincreasedmarkedlyafterthermalstress.ExpressionofID1proteindeclinedgraduallywithincreasingexpressionsofitsdownstreamgenes,P16andP21followingthethermalstress.Conclusions:ThermalstresscouldstronglyactivateVECsandinhibitproliferationofVECsthroughID1,thusdownregulatingcyclin-dependentkinaseinhibitors,P16andP21,whichmightbeanessentialpathwayforrecoveryofVECsafterthermalstress.
