  • 简介:AcomprehensivefieldstudyhasbeenundertakentoinvestigatesedimentresuspensiondynamicsintheMoretonBay,alargesemi-enclosedbaysituatedinSouthEastQueensland,Australia.Aninstrumentedtripod,whichhousedthreecurrentmeters,threeOBSsensorsandoneunderwatervideocamera,wasusedtocollectthefielddataontides,currents,wavesandsuspendedsedimentconcentrationsatfoursites(Sites1,2,4,and5)inthebay.Site1waslocatedatthemainentrance,Site2atthecentralbayindeepwater,andSites4and5attwosmallbaysinshallowwater.Thebedsedimentwasfinesand(d50=0.2mm)atSite1,andcohesivesedimentattheotherthreesites.Basedonthecollectedfielddata,itisfoundthatthedominantdrivingforcesforsedimentresuspensionareacombinationofoceanswellandtidalcurrentsatSite1,tidalcurrentsatSite2,andwind-wavesatSites4and5.Thecriticalbedshearstressforcohesivesedimentresuspensionisdeterminedas0.079PainunidirectionalflowatSite2,and0.076Painwave-inducedoscillatoryflowatSite5.

  • 简介:-ThispaperdescribesaradioactivetracerexperimentcarriedoutatthelandwardspoilsiteoftheNorthPassageintheYangtzeEstuaryinJune,1991.Scandium-46wasselectedasthetracer,thetotalactivityreleasedwas179.45GBqandtheamountoftheSandium-46glasswas495g.Thepurposeoftheexperimentwastodeterminethesedimentmovementdirection,path,velocityandtransportrate,andtherefore,toprovidedirectevidenceforusingthelandwardspoilsiteinthefuture.Theexperimentalresultsshowedthatthesedimentmovementwasgovernedbytheebbtidecurrentduringtheperiodofmeanandneaptideswhentheradioactivetracerwasinjectedbothonthefloodandebbtides,andthesedimentmovedfromthereleasepointtothemiddleoftheNorthPassagenearnavigationbuoyNo.269.Thedirecitonofthesedimentmovementwas110°,theparticlevelocitywas758m/d,andthesedimenttransportrateperunitwidthwas47.8m3/md.

  • 简介:DescribedisaninitialattempttosimulatethesuspendedsedimentdynamicsrelatingtotidalandwaveforcingduringsummertimeinJune1980andAugust1981fortheYellowandEastChinaSeascontinentalshelf.Thecohesive/non-cohesivesedimentresuspensionandmovementgeneratedbytheinteractionbetweencurrentandwavearemodeledbyuseofECOMSEDandWAMCycle4.ModelresultsarecomparedwithobservationsinUS-ChinaMarineSedimentationDynamicsProgramperformedfor1980-81atofftheChangjiangestuary.Themainfeaturesofsimulationsshowthatsuspendedsedimentconcentrationsduringthesummerdecreasedmarkedlyoffshoreasobservedduringthesimulationperiods.Asforsomediscrepanciesforthemouthoftheestuarywithhighriverdischarges,i.e.,theChangjiangRiver,themodeldidnotproperlyreproducetheover-mixingsituationinthesummer;thusdistinctverticalconcentrationvariationinthislocalregionisnotagreeablewithobservation.However,generaldispersalpatternsofsuspendedsedimentmovementseemtobeagreeablyreproducedforthenearshoreshallowregion.Someoftheproceduresofsimulationandresultsarepresentedanddiscussed.

  • 简介:NanxiaohongandNangangmainsouthchannelarechosenasthetypicalfloodandebbchannels.HydrodynamicsanalysisbasedonfieldhydrologicalandsedimentdataisconductedwithGao-Collinsmodeltoanalysesedimenttransporttrends.Also,thegrainsizedistributionanalysisofthebottomsedimentsampledinSep.2001isusedasthebaseoftheanalysis.TheresultshowsthatthesedimentinNanxiaohongisfromtherivemoutharea.Thesedimenttransportsupwardswiththefloodflowwhichisstrongerthantheebbflow,i.e.,inthedirectionofSE-WN.Thesedimentinmainsouthchannelcomesfromupward.Theytransportdownwardswiththeebbflow,whichisstrongerthanthefloodflow,i.e.,inthedirectionofWN-SE.Thedirections,sourcesandmechanismofsedimenttransportareidentifiedaccordingtocomprehensiveanalysesoftheobserveddataonhydrodynamicsandsediment.

  • 简介:Settlingvelocityisafundamentalparameterinsedimenttransportdynamics.ForuniformPar-ticles,thereareabundantformulasforcalculationoftheirsettlingvelocities.Butinnaturalfields,sedi-mentconsistsofnon-uniformparticles.Theinteractionamongparticlesiscomplexandshouldnotbeneg-lected.Inthispaper,basedontheanalysisofsettlingmechanismofnon-cohesiveandnon-uniformparti-cles,atheoreticalmodeltodescribesettlingmechanismisproposed.Besidessuspensionconcentrationandupwardturbulentflowcausedbyotherparticles,collisionamongparticlesisanothermainfactorinflu-encingsettlingvelocity.Byintroducingthecollisiontheory,equationsoffallvelocitybeforecollision,colli-sionprobability,andfallvelocityaftercollisionareestablished.Finally,aformulausedtocalculatetheset-tlingvelocityofnon-cohesiveparticleswithwidegraingradationispresented,whichagreeswellwiththeexperimentaldata.

  • 简介:StudyofthemajorAsianriversdischargetotheoceanrevealsvariationsoftheirwaterdischargesandsedimentloads,andlocalcharacteristicsofriversedimentconcentrations.Onthebasisofthis,theAsianriversfallintothreeregions,includingEurasiaArctic,EastAsia,SoutheastandSouthAsiaRegions.TheEurasiaArcticRegionischaracterizedbythelowestsedimentconcentrationandload,whiletheEastAsiaRegionisofthehighestsedimentconcentrationandhighersedimentload,andtheSouth-EastandSouthAsiaRegionyieldshighersedimentconcentrationandhighestsedimentload.Thesedimentloadsoftheseregionsaremainlycontrolledbyclimate,geomorphologyandtectonicactivity.TheEurasiaArcticriverswithlargebasinareasandwaterdischarge,drainlowreliefwhichconsistsoftundrasediment,thuscausingthelowestsedimentload.TheEastAsiariverswithsmallbasinareasandlowestwaterdischarges,drainextensiveloessplateau,andtransportmosterodibleloessmaterial,whichresultsinhighestsedimentconcentration.TheSEandSouthAsiariversoriginatingfromtheTibetPlateauhavelargebasinareasandthelargestwaterdischargesbecauseoftheSummerMonsoonandhighrainfallinfluence,causingthehighestsedimentload.InAsia,tectonicmotionoftheTibetPlateauplaysanimportantrole.ThoselargeriversoriginatingfromtheTibetPlateautransportabout50%oftheworldriversedimentloadtooceanannually,forminglargeestuariesanddeltas,andconsequentlyexertingagreatinfluenceonsedimentationinthecoastalzoneandshelves.

  • 简介:Basedonthe2-DflowandsedimentnumericalmodeloftheYangtzeEstuaryandtheHangzhouBay,thecharacteristicsofwaterandsedimentexchangeintheirjointwatersisstudiedthroughquantitativecalculationandanalysisofthecharacteristicsofwaterflowandsedimenttransportation.Theresultsshowthatthereisperiodicalwaterandsedimentexchangeinthisjointwaters,thatthenetwaterexchangeappearsmainlybetween0~6mdepth(theoreticaldatumplane,thesamebelow)offshoreandthemaximumisnearthedepthof2m,andthatthenetsedimentexchangemainlyappearsbetween0~5mdepthandthemaximumisnearthedepthof3m,indicatingthattherangeofwaterflowpassageisdifferentfromthatofsedimenttransportfromtheYangtzeEstuarytotheHangzhouBay.Combinedwiththeresultsofnumericalsimulation,thispaperalsoanalyzesthehydrodynamicalmechanisminfluencingwaterandsedimentexchangebetweentheYangtzeEstuaryandtheHangzhouBay,includingtidalfluctuation,tidalcurrentkineticenergy,tide-inducedresidualcurrentandthetraceofwaterparticles.Finally,thesedimenttransportationpassageontheNanhuitidalflatisdiscussed,andtheresultsshowthatsedimentistransportedintotheHangzhouBayfromthesouthsideofShipilei,whilesedimentisbroughtbacktotheSouthChanneloftheYangtzeEstuaryfromthenorthside.

  • 简介:Afterthesingle-strainabilitiesoforganic-pollutant-degradingbacteriainbioremediationofsedimentenvironmentofshrimpculturearedetermined,themultistraindegradingeffectofthecompositionsofdifferentstrainsismeasured.Theresultsindicatethatthemulti-strainsgroupshavehigherdegradingabilitythanthesingle-straingroups.Three-straingroupsarebetterthantwo-straingroups,andfourstraingroupsarebetterthanthree-straingroupsandfive-straingroups,thegroupscomposedofstrainsLt7222,Lt7511,Fc6308andGy7018hasthebestdegradingeffect,theCODMnremovalrateis73.2%in66h,andgetsto82.7%in114h,30%higherthanthatofthebestsingle-straingroup;GroupsofLt7222,Lt7511,Lt7451andGy7018arethesecond,whoseCODMnremovalrateis82.1%in114h,Itissuggestedthatmulti-speciesbacteriabeusedasfunctionalbacteriainbiorernediationofmaricultureenvironment.

  • 简介:Inmarineengineering,thestrengthofasubmarinesedimentisanindispensableparameterforassessmentofconstruction.Inthisstudy,afree-fallconepenetratornamedIPenwasdevelopedtorealizearapidandefficientmeasurementofsedimentstrength.Theequipmentischaracterizedbymodulardesignandself-containeddataacquisition.Itisequippedwithanaccelerationsensor,awaterpressuresensor,andapiezoconepenetrationtest(CPTu)probe.Itisdesignedtobereleasedfromnearseabedsurfacewithareleaserandthenfallfreelytoprovideahigherpenetrationvelocity.Itsmaximumworkingdepthisapproximately2500mandmaximumpenetrationdepthisapproximately3m.Toderivethecorrelationbetweenpenetrationresistanceandsedimentstrength,acalibratorwasdevisedtodeterminethepenetration-ratefactor.Inaddition,thefactorapplicabletoinsitutestpointswasdeterminedinlaboratoryexperiments.InJune2016,theIPenwastestedinsituintheSouthYellowSea,China,duringasharedvoyagefundedbytheNationalScienceFoundation.Meanwhile,undisturbedcolumnsampleswerecollectedforlaboratorytests.Basedontheinsitutestresults,itwasdemonstratedthattheIPencouldaccuratelyrecordtheworkingstatesofvarioussensorsduringthefreelyfallingcourse.IPentestresultsreliablyreflectedthesedimentstrengthatallthetestingpointswhencomparedwithlaboratorycalibrationtests,insituvanetestsandpenetrationtests,laboratorypenetrationtests,andunconsolidatedandundrainedtriaxialcompressiontests.

  • 简介:Thebottomsedimentsamplesweregatheredduringislandinvestigationin1994andintheperiodofcarryingoutthenaturalsciencefundprojectofFujianin1999.Thecomposition,distributionandassemblagecharacteristicsofheavymineralswhichgranularitydistributesfrom0.063to0.125mminthesedimentfromJiulongRiverestuaryarestudiedinthepaper.Theresultsshowthatthereare49kindsofheavymineralsandtheaveragecontentofthemis9.38%.Thedominantandcharacteristicmineralsaremagnetite,hematite,epidote,ilmenite,limonite,hornblende,zircon,andalusite,biotiteandsoon.4mineralassemblagezones(Ⅰ.ThewatercoursegatewayofJiulongRivermineralzone,Ⅱ.ThenorthernestuaryofJiulongRivermineralzone,Ⅲ.Thesouthernestuarymineralzone,Ⅳ.TheeasternestuaryofJiulongRivermineralzone),canbedividedbasedontheheavymineralcontentsandthedistributioncharacteristics,whichnotonlyrelatestothemattersourcesbutalsoiscontrolledbyhydrodynamicconditionandthesedimentaryenvironmentintheJiulongRiverestuary.

  • 简介:Inestuarineandcoastalareas,theseabedisinaconstantprocessofdynamicchangeundermarineconditions.Seabedsedimenterosionandresuspensionareimportantprocessesthatsafelycontrolthegeologicalenvironment.FieldtripodobservationsconductedintheJiaozhouBayinChinaarereported,toinvestigatetheeffectsofhydrodynamicconditionsontheerosionandresuspensionprocessesoftheseabed.Theobservationalresultsshowthatthemaximumshearstresscreatedbytidalcurrentscanreach0.35N/m~2,whichishigherthanthewave-inducedshearstressduringfairweatherconditions.Aseabederosionfrequentlyoccursduringthefloodtide,whereasaseabeddepositionoccursduringebbtide.WavescanproduceabottomshearstressapproximatelyequivalenttothatinducedbycurrentswhenthelocalwindreachesForce4withaspeedof5m/s.Whenthewindreaches7m/sandthesignificantwaveheightreaches26cm,wavesplayamoresignificantrolethancurrentsinthedynamicprocessesoftheseabedsedimentresuspensionandleadtoahighvalueofturbiditythatisapproximatelytwotoeighttimeshigherthanthatinfairweather.Theseanalysesclearlyillustratethatperiodiccurrent-inducedsedimenterosionandresuspensionaredominantinfairweather,whereasepisodichighwavesareresponsibleforsignificantsedimentresuspension.AdditionalworkisneededtoestablishamorethoroughunderstandingofthemechanismsofsedimentdynamicsintheJiaozhouBay.

  • 简介:Verticalstructuresofmomentumexchangecoefficientandsedimentconcentrationarethekeysintheresearchonestuarineandcoastalsuspendedsedimenttransport.Basedontheparabolicmixinglengthdistributionpattern,thedistributionpatternofverticalmomentumexchangecoefficientwhichissuitableforestuarineandcoastalwatersisconstructed.AcomparisonwithsteadyflowandmeasuredmomentumexchangecoefficientduringonetidalcycleintheMenaiStraitofEnglandshowsthattheresultofthispatternisclosertothemeasuredvaluesthanthoseofcommonlyusedRouse'sandvanRijn'spatterns,andthepatternisalsosuitableforestuarineandcoastalwaters.Successively,basedonthepreconditionthatmomentumexchangecoefficientisequivalenttosedimentturbulentdiffusioncoefficient,andcombiningwiththeDiffusionTheory,weobtaintheexponentialverticaldistributionpatternofsedimentconcentration,whichisalsosuitableforestuarineandcoastalwaters.Thereby,usingmeasuredverticalstratifiedsedimentconcentrationdataoftheSouthandtheNorthPassagesoftheYangtzeEstuaryandZhoushanarchipelagowatersforfittingcalculation,andcomparingtheresultswiththosefromRouse's(1938)andZhangetal.'s(1989)formulas,theresultsshowthattheexponentialverticaldistributionpatternofsedimentconcentrationobtainedinthepresentstudynotonlyovercomesthedefectofRouse'sformulathatthesurfacesedimentconcentrationwillbe0,butalsohasaholistichigherprecisionalongtheverticallinesthanthoseofRouse'sandZhangetal.'sformulas.

  • 简介:Inthisstudy,thecombinedactionsofwavesandtidalcurrentsinestuarineandcoastalareasareconsideredanda2Dmathematicalmodelforsedimenttransportbywavesandtidalcurrentshasbeenestablishedinorthogonalcurvilinearcoordinates.Non-equilibriumtransportequationsofsuspendedloadandbedloadareusedinthemodel.Theconceptofbackgroundconcentrationisintroduced,andtheformulaofsedimenttransportcapacityoftidalcurrentsfortheOujiangRiverestuaryisobtained.TheDouGuorenformulaisemployedforthesedimenttransportcapacityofwaves.SedimenttransportcapacityintheformofmudandtheintensityofbacksiltingarecalculatedbyuseofLuoZaosen'sformula.Thecalculatedtidalstagesareingoodagreementwiththefielddata,andthecalculatedvelocitiesandflowdirectionsof46verticallinesfor8crosssectionsarealsoingoodagreementwiththemeasureddata.Onsuchabasis,simulationsofbacksiltingafterexcavationofthewaterwaywithasandbarundercomplicatedboundaryconditionsinthenavigationchannelinducedbysuspendedload,bedloadandmudbywavesandtidalcurrentsarediscussed.

  • 简介:Basedonthecharacteristicsofwaves,tidalcurrents,sedimentandseabedevolutionintheCaofeidianseaareaintheBohaiBay,a2Dsedimentmathematicalmodelofwavesandtidalcurrentsisemployedtostudythedevelopmentschemesoftheharbor.Verificationofspringandneaptidalcurrentsandsedimentinthewinterandsummerof2006showsthatthecalculatedvaluesoftidalstagesaswellasflowvelocities,flowdirectionsandsedimentconcentrationof15synchronousverticallinesareingoodagreementwiththemeasureddata.Also,depositionanderosionoftheseaareainfrontofCaofeidianoreterminalinducedbysuspendedloadundertidalcurrentsandwavesareverified;itshowsthatthecalculatedvaluesofdepthofdepositionanderosionaswellastheirdistributionareclosetothemeasureddata.Furthermore,effectsofreclamationschemeofislandinfrontofthelandbehindCaofeidianharboronthehydrodynamicenvironmentarestudied,includingchangesofflowvelocitiesinthedeepchannelsatthesouthsideofCaofeidianforelandandLaolonggouandinvariousharborbasins,aswellaschangesofdepositionanderosionofseabedinducedbytheproject.
