  • 简介:Tworocksampleswithdifferentstructuresandmaterialsweredeformedunderabiaxialloadingsystem,andmulti-pointstrainmeasurementswereperformedforeachsample.ThedistributionofstrainanomaliesduringthedeformationandtheinstabilityprocesswereanalyzedbyusingCvvalueputforwardbyWANGXiao-qingandCHENXue-zhong,etal,aparametertodescribetheheterogeneousdistributionofearthquakeprecursors,soastoexaminethemethodofCvvalueandtoexploreitsphysicalmeaningexperimentally.TheresultshowsthatthechangeofCvvalueiscorrelatedtothechangeofdeformationcharacteristicsandisaneffectiveparametertodescribetheheterogeneityofprecursordistribution.Cvvalueincreasesfirstlyandthendecreasesbeforetheinstability,andtheinstabilityoccurswhenCvvaluedecreasestothelevelbeforeincreasing.ThisindicatesthatCvvaluemaybeausefulparameterforearthquakeprediction.

  • 简介:Heterogeneityofpermeabilityinfracturedmediaisahotresearchtopicinhydrogeology.Numerousapproacheshavebeenproposedtocharacterizeheterogeneityinthelastseveraldecades.However,littleattentionhasbeenpaidtocorrelatepermeabilityheterogeneitywithgeologicalinformation.Inthepresentstudy,severalcausesofpermeabilityheterogeneity,thatis,lithology,tectonism,anddepth,areidentified.Theunitabsorptionvalues(denotedasω),whichareresultsobtainedfromthepackertest,areemployedtorepresentpermeability.Thevariabilityofpermeabilityinsandstone-mudstoneissosignificantthatthevalueofunitabsorptionsspan3-4ordersofmagnitudeatanydepthwithseveraltestsections.Bydeclustering,ithasbeenfoundthatunderasimilartectonichistory,themeansofpermeabilitydiffergreatlyatdifferentformationsasaresultofdifferentmudrockcontents.Ithasalsobeenfoundthatinthesameformation,permeabilitycanbesignificantlyincreasedasaresultoffaulting.Thewell-knownphenomenon,thedecreaseinpermeabilitywithdepth,isfoundtobecausedbythefracturesintherockmass,andtherelationshipbetweenpermeabilityanddepthcanbeestablishedintheformoflogω-logd.Aftersubtractingthetrendofωwithabsolutedepth,themeanoftheresidualvalueateachrelativedepthcanbewellcorrelatedwiththedistributionofmudstone.Themethodsproposedinthispapercanbeutilizedtoresearchinsimilarstudyareas.

  • 简介:EarthquakeeventsfromtheIndonesiansubductionzonerecordedinnorthernAustraliashowalongandhigh-frequencycodaassociatedwithbothPandSwaves.RegionaleventsrecordedbyWarramungaarrayinnorthernAustraliacanseparateoutwavepropagationthroughthemantlebyfocusingonthecoherentsignalacrossthemedium-aperturearray.Mostoftheincoherentwavecomponentsresultfromstructuresinthevicinityofthearraywithsmall-scalelengthsof1–2kmorsmaller.Thecoherentphaseswithrelativelyrapidchangesinwaveformsareassociatedwiththescatteringofseismicwavesbycrustalandmantleheterogeneity,butinsomecasecanberelatedtostructuraleffectsnearthesource.Asthedepthofthesourceincreases,thecoherentportionoftheseismicwavefieldtendstobecomemuchsimpler,whichsuggeststhattheheterogeneitytendstoweakenatdepthwithlarger-scalelength.WecomparethecoherentsignalfeaturesofearthquakesfromtheIndonesiansubductionzonethathaveoccurredinrecentyearswiththoseintheearly1980s,firststudiedbyKennett(PhysEarthPlanetInter47:319–332,1987).Thegeneralcharacteristicsofthecoherentsignalvariationwithdepthinrecentyearsarethesameasthoseobservedin1980s,butthevariationsarelarger.Thischangesuggestsastringervariationinheterogeneitywithdepththanbefore,whichmaybearimportantinformationaboutthedynamicprocessesandevolutionofthecrustanduppermantle.

  • 简介:ResearchonthelargescalespatialheterogeneityofgreatintraplateshallowearthquakesontheChinesemainlandandadjacentareasdiscussedinthispapershowsthat(1)therearefourmainhighseismicityareas:theNorthChinaseismicareaintheeasternpartofChina(30°-42°N),theSoutheasternCoastseismicareaintheeasternpartofChina(19°-25°N),theNorth-SouthseismicareainthewesternpartofChinaanditsadjacentareas(Burma-China-Mongolia),andtheCentralAsianseismicareainthewesternpartofChinaanditsadjacentareas(Pamir-TianshanMountains-Baikal);(2)thefourintraplateseismicareasthatareapproximatelyperpendiculartothosesectionsoftheEurasiaplateboundarythatsurroundstheChinesemainlandanditsadjacentareas,wheretheEurasiaplatehasastrongseismiccouplingwiththeNorthAmerica-PacificOcean-PhilippineSeaplateandtheIndiaplate;and(3)thelargescalespatialheterogeneityofintraplateseismicityinChinaanditsadjacentareasthatmightbecontrol
