Thispaperpresentsacomputationalmodelforthefluiddynamicsinafracturedductilepipeunderhighpressure.Thepressureprofileinfrontofthecracktip,whichisthedrivingsourceofcrackpropagation,iscomputedusinganonlinearwaveequation.Thesolutioniscoupledwithaonedimensionalchokedflowanalysisbehindthecrack.Thesimulationutilizesahighorderoptimizedprefactoredcompact-finitevolumemethodinspace,andlowdispersionanddissipationRunge-Kuttaintime.Asthepipefracturestherapiddepressurizationtakeplaceinsidethepipeandthepropagationofthecrack-inducedwavesstronglyinfluencestheoutflowdynamics.Consistentwiththeexperimentalobservation,themodelpredictstheexpansionwaveinsidethepipe,andthereflectionandoutflowofthewave.Themodelalsohelpscharacterizethepropagationofthecrackdynamicsandfluidflowsaroundthetipofthecrack.
