ThepurposeofthisworkistostudythemolecularepidemiologicalcharacteristicsofnorovirusgastroenteritisoutbreaksinGuangdong.DuringOctober2003andDecember2004,fecalandanalswabsspecimenscollectedfrom13outbreaksofnon-bacterialgastroenteritisweretestedfornorovirus.SpecimensweredetectedbyRT-PCRandsequenced.Thedescriptivedatawerealsocollected.Eightin13outbreaksofgastroenteritiswerepositivefornorovirus.Allof8virusstrainswereidentifiedasgenogroupⅡbutbelongedto3genotypes.SixstrainswereGⅡ-4genotype.NorovirusisamajorcauseofoutbreaksofnonbacterialgastroenteritisinGuangdongprovinceandhasawidedistribution.Theillnesshappendedfromlateautumntowinter.TheprevalentstrainsweregenogroupⅡvirus.
