Theprobabilitydistributionsofsandparticles'lift-offandincidentvelocitiesinawind-blownsandfluxplayveryimportantrolesinthesimulationofthewind-blownsandmovement.Inthispaper,theverticalandthehorizontalspeedsofsandparticleslocatedat1.0mmaboveasand-bedinawind-blownsandfluxareobservedwiththeaidofPhaseDopplerAnemometry(PDA)inawindtunnel.Basedontheexperimentaldata,theprobabilitydistributionsofnotonlytheverticallift-offspeedbutalsothelift-offvelocityaswellasitshorizontalcomponentandtheincidentvelocityaswellasitsverticalandhorizontalcomponentscanbeobtainedbytheequaldistancehistogrammethod.Itisfound,accordingtotheresultsoftheχ2-testfortheseprobabilitydistributions,thattheprobabilitydensityfunctions(pdf's)ofthesandparticles'lift-offandincidentvelocitiesaswellastheirverticalcomponentsaredescribedbytheGammadensityfunctionwithdifferentpeakvaluesandshapesandthedownwindincidentandlift-offhorizontalspeeds,respectively,canbedescribedbythelognormalandtheGammadensityfunctions.Thesepdf'sdependonnotonlythesandparticlediameterbutalsothewindspeed.
