Thispaperexploresthebasicframeworkforcross-culturaldialogueonhumanrights.Suchdialogueimplicatesdifferingunderstandingsofthecontentofhumanrightsaswellasdifferinginterpretationoftheconceptofhumanrightsitself.Thechallengesconfrontingtheuniversalityofhumanrightsarguablystemfrompeople’sfearofradicalinpidualism,secularfundamentalismandpoliticalradicalism.Whiletheuniversalityofhumanrightsshouldnotbedenied,cognizancemustbetakenaswellofthegapbetweentheoryandpracticeduringtherealizationofthoserightsandtheselectivitypertainingtosuchrealization.Dogmatismanduncompromisingideologicalstancesisanobstacletodialoguesandcross-culturalexchangesonhumanrights.
