Coupling model for waves propagating over a porous seabed

Thewave-seabedinteractionissueisofgreatimportanceforthedesignoffoundationaroundmarineinfrastructures.Mostpreviousinvestigationsforsuchaproblemhavebeenlimitedtouncoupledoronewaycoupledmethodsconnectingtwoseparatedwaveandseabedsubmodelswiththecontinuityofpressuresattheseabedsurface.Inthisstudy,astronglycoupledmodelwasproposedtorealizebothwaveandseabedprocessesinasameprogramandtocalculatethewavefieldsandseabedresponsesimultaneously.Theinformationbetweenwavefieldsandseabedfieldswerestronglysharedandthusresultsinamoreprofoundinvestigationofthemechanismofthewave-seabedinteraction.Inthisletter,thewaveandseabedmodelswerevalidatedwithpreviousexperimentaltests.Then,asetofapplicationofpresentmodelwerediscussedinpredictionofthewave-inducedseabedresponse.Numericalresultsshowthewave-inducedliquefactionareaofcoupledmodelissmallerthanthatofuncoupledmodel.
