简介:Wepresentacontinuous-wavesingly-resonantopticalparametricoscillatorwith1.5%outputcouplingoftheresonantsignalwave,basedonanangle-polishedMgO-dopedperiodicallypoledlithiumniobate(MgO:PPLN),pumpedbyacommercialNd:YVO4laserat1064nm.Theoutput-coupledopticalparametricoscillatordeliversamaximumtotaloutputpowerof4.19Wwith42.8%extractionefficiency,acrossatuningrangeof1717nminthenear-andmid-infraredregion.Thisindicatesimprovementsof1.87Winoutputpower,19.1%inextractionefficiencyand213nmintuningrangeextensionincomparisonwiththeopticalparametricoscillatorwithnooutputcoupling,whileattheexpenseofincreasingtheoscillationthresholdbyafactorof~2.Moreover,itisconfirmedthatthefiniteoutputcouplingalsocontributestothereductionofthethermaleffectsincrystal.
简介:Inthescenariowherethedarkmatter(DM)particlesχχˉpairannihilatethrougharesonanceparticleR,theconstraintfromDMrelicdensitymakesthecorrespondingcrosssectionforDM-nucleielasticscatteringextremelysmall,andcanbebelowtheneutrinobackgroundinducedbythecoherentneutrino-nucleiscattering,whichmakestheDMparticlebeyondthereachoftheconventionalDMdirectdetectionexperiments.WepresentanimprovedanalyticalcalculationoftheDMrelicdensityinthecaseofresonantDMannihilationfors-andp-wavecasesandinvesitgatetheconditionfortheDM-nucleiscatteringcrosssectiontobeabovetheneutrinobackground.WeshowthatinHiggs-portaltypemodels,forDMparticleswiths-waveannihilation,thespin-independentDM-nucleusscatteringcrosssectionisproportionaltoΓR/mR,theratioofthedecaywidthandthemassofR.ForatypicalDMparticlemass~50GeV,theconditionleadstoΓR/mR≥O(10-4).Inp-waveannihilationcase,thespin-independentscatteringcrosssectionisinsensitivetoΓR/mR,andisalwaysabovetheneutrinobackground,aslongastheDMparticleislighterthanthetopquark.TherealsingletDMmodelisdiscussedasaconcreteexample.
简介:Inthispaper,anewtypeofresonantBrewsterfilters(RBF)withsurfacereliefstructureforthemultiplechannelsisfirstpresentedbyusingtherigorouscoupled-waveanalysisandtheS-matrixmethod.Bytuningthedepthofhomogeneouslayerwhichisunderthesurfacereliefstructure,themultiplechannelsphenomenonisobtained.Longrange,extremelylowsidebandsandmultiplechannelsarefoundwhentheRBFwithsurfacereliefstructureisilluminatedwithTransverseMagneticincidentpolarizationlightneartheBrewsteranglecalculatedwiththeeffectivemediatheoryofsubwavelengthgrating.Moreover,thewavelengthsofRBFwithsurfacereliefstructurecanbeeasilyshiftedbychangingthedepthofhomogeneouslayerwhileitsopticalpropertiessuchaslowsidebandreflectionandnarrowbandarenotspoiledwhenthedepthischanged.Furthermore,thevariationofthegratingthicknessdoesnoteffectivelychangetheresonantwavelengthofRBF,buthavearemarkableeffectonitslinewidth,whichisveryusefulfordesigningsuchfilterswithdifferentlinewidthsatdesiredwavelength.

简介:Weexperimentallydemonstrateself-trappingoflight,asaresultofplasmonicresonantopticalnonlinearity,inbothaqueousandorganic(toluene)suspensionsofgoldnanorods.Thethresholdpowerforsolitonformationisgreatlyreducedintolueneasopposedtoaqueoussuspensions.Itiswellknownthattheopticalgradientforcesareoptimizedatoff-resonancewavelengthsatwhichsuspendedparticlestypicallyexhibitastrongpositive(ornegative)polarizability.However,surprisingly,aswetunethewavelengthoftheopticalbeamfromacontinuous-wave(CW)laser,wefindthatthethresholdpowerisreducedbymorethanthreefoldattheplasmonicresonancefrequency.Byanalyzingtheopticalforcesandtorqueactingonthenanorods,weshowtheoreticallythatitispossibletoalignthenanorodsinsideasolitonwaveguidechannelintoorthogonalorientationsbyusingmerelytwodifferentlaserwavelengths.Weperformaseriesofexperimentstoexaminethetransmissionofthesoliton-formingbeamitself,aswellasthepolarizationtransmissionspectrumofalow-powerprobebeamguidedalongthesolitonchannel.Itisfoundthattheexpectedsyntheticanisotropicpropertiesaretoosubtletobeclearlyobserved,inlargepartduetoBrownianmotionofthesolventmoleculesandalimitedorderingregionwheretheopticalfieldfromtheself-trappedbeamisstrongenoughtoovercomethermodynamicfluctuations.Theabilitytoachievetunablenonlinearityandnanorodorientationsincolloidalnanosuspensionswithlow-powerCWlaserbeamsmayleadtointerestingapplicationsinall-opticalswitchingandtransparentdisplaytechnologies.

简介:Inthispaper,amultidimensionaltuningmethodofthesilicamicrocapillaryresonator(MCR)isproposedanddemonstratedwherebytheextinctionratio(ER)aswellastheresonantwavelengthcanbeindividuallycontrolled.AnERtuningrangeofupto17dBandamaximumtuningsensitivityof0.3dB/μmarerealizedduetothetaperedprofileofthesilicaopticalmicrofiber(MF)whentheMFisadjustedalongitsaxialdirection.Comparedtodirecttuningofthecouplinggap,thismethodcouldlowertherequirementfortheresolutionofdisplacementstagetomicrometers.WhentheMFisadjustedalongtheaxialdirectionofthesilicamicrocapillary,aresonanceshiftof3.06nmandmaximumtuningsensitivityof0.01nm/μmareachieved.Thismethodavoidstheuseofanappliedexternalfieldtocontrolthesilicamicroresonators.Moreover,whenairisreplacedbyethanolandwaterinthecoreofthesilicamicrocapillary,amaximumresonanceshiftof5.22nmisalsoachievedtofurtherenlargetheresonancetuningrange.Finally,amicrobubbleresonatorwithahigherQfactorisalsofabricatedtoachieveanERtuningrangeof8.5dB.OurmethodfullytakesadvantageoftheuniquestructureoftheMCRtoseparatelyandeasilytuneitskeyparameters,andmaybroadenitsapplicationsinopticalsignalprocessingandsensing.
简介:Themonitoredresonantbehavioroffatiguespecimensofmetastableausteniticstainlesssteel(AISI304)iscorrelatedwithitsdamageaccumulationintheveryhighcyclefatigue(VHCF)regime.Theresonantbehaviorisstudiedexperimentallyandshowsadistincttransientcharacteristic.MicroscopicexaminationsindicatethatduringVHCFalocalizedplasticdeformationinshearbandsarisesonthespecimensurface.Hence,thisworkfocusesontheeffectofdamageaccumulationinshearbandsontheresonantbehaviorofAISI304intheVHCFregime.Amicrostructuralsimulationmodelisproposedthattakesintoaccountspecificmechanismsinshearbandsprovenbyexperimentalresults.Thesimulationmodelissolvednumericallyusingthetwo-dimensionalboundaryelementmethodandtheresonantbehaviorischaracterizedbyevaluatingtheforce-displacementhysteresisloop.Simulationofshearbandsagreeswellwithmicroscopicexaminationsandplasticdeformationinshearbandsinfluencesthetransientcharacteristicoftheresonantbehavior.
