AninhomogeneousKdVequationincludingtopographicforcingisderivedbyusingperturbationexpansionsandstretchingtransformsoftimeandspace.ThegenerationofforcedsolitaryRossbywavesbytopographyinanear-resonantflowandtheirinteractionswithfreesolitarywavesarediscussed,andsomeinterestingresultsareobtained.Thenumericalresultsshowthatthetopographyhasobviouseffectonenhancingtheamplitudeofdisturbances,anditmayexplaintosomedegreetheformationofblockingbylocalizedtopography.
