简介：Objective:Toinvestigatetheprevalenceofpenicillinase-producingNeisseriagonorrhoeae(PPNG)inWuxi.Methods:NestedPCR(nPCR)wasusedtotestforthepresenceofβ-IactamaseDNAinurethralorcervicalswabsspecimensfrom217patientswithgonorrhea.OnenPCR-positiveproductwasrandomlyselectedforDNAsequencing.Results:PPNGwasfoundin60ofall217specimens(27.65%),andin33.87%(42/124)ofmaleand19.35%(18/93)offemalecases.ThenPCRproductwasidenticaltoaknownclinicalPPNGstrain.Conclusion:TheprevalenceofPPNGinSTDpatientsinWuxiisalarminglyhigh,andthismustbetakenintoconsiderationforsuccessfultreatmentandpreventionofgonorrheainfections.
