简介:TheconstructionoftheGeologicTimeScale(GTS)isatitanicscientificchallengethathasbeenunderwayfortwocenturiesandwillrequiremuchdedicatedeffortinthefuture.ItalypreservesaparamountstratigraphicrecordofMesozoicandCenozoicmarinesedimentsthathavebeensignificantinthedevelopmentofthemodernGTS.TheItalianstratigraphicrecordhasbeenhistori-callyimportantinintroducinganddefiningthestandardChronostratigraphicUnits(CUs)oftheNeogeneandQuaternary.PelagicsuccessionsfromNorthernApen-ninesandSouthernAlpshavebeenusedintheseventiesforintegratingthelateCretaceous-PaleogeneGeomag-neticPolarityTimeScale(GPTS)withplanktonicmicrofossilbiostratieraohvandstandardCUs.Thiswasamajorcontributiontotheconstructionofanewgener-ationofGTSbasedonintegratedmagnetobiochronol-ogy.ThemiddleMiocenetoearlyPleistocenemarinerecordfromSicilyandsouthernItalyhasbeenfunda-mentalforestablishingtherecentlydevelopedAstro-nomicalTimeScale(ATS).Inprospect,therearemanypotentialsstilltobeexploitedintheItalianmarinestratigraphicrecordforimplementingtheGTSbydefin-ingGSSPsofvariousCUs,improvingmagneto-biochronologyandextendingdownwardstheATS.

简介:由安徽省地质调查院负责完成的'大别山造山带的构造几何学和运动学'项目成果获2003年度省科学技术奖一等奖。这是安徽省地调院继大别山超高压变质岩研究领域又一突出成果,是大别山超高压变质岩研究的继续和深化。近年来,在国家自然科学基金委、中国地调局和安徽省地矿局的支持下,省地调院徐树桐教授等开展的'大别山造山带的构造几何学和运动学'研究,取得一系列重要成果,其中在大别山北部发现榴辉岩及其中的超高压变质作用标志,被认为是在大别山造山带研究中继发现金刚石之后的又一重大突破,对了解北部条带状片麻岩形成的背景有重要意义。这项研究是国家自然科学基金重大项目'超高压变质作用与碰撞造山动力学'的二级课题,研究人员在大别山北部青山以东及磨子潭等地发现数十处榴辉岩露头,且榴辉岩石榴子石中的金红石、磷灰石、单斜辉石出溶,表明大别山北部超高压带
