OneoftheprincipaldisadvantagesofOrthogonalFrequencypisionMultiplexing(OFDM)isverysensitivetocarrierfrequencyoffset.Theintegerfrequencyoffsethasnoeffectontheorthogonalityamongthesubcarriers,butitcausesacircularshiftandphaserotationofthereceiveddatasymbolssequence,resultinginaBitErrorRate(BER)of0.5.Inthispaper,anovelintegerfrequencyoffsetestimatorforOFDMisderivedbasedonmaximumlikelihoodestimationtechniqueandexplorationofthedifferentialrelationbetweentwoconsecutiveOFDMdatasymbolsequencesinfrequencydomain.ItsperformanceiscomparedwiththeconventionalmethodbycomputersimulationsfortheadditivewhiteGaussiannoisechannelandamultipathfadingchannel.Simulationresultsshowthattheperformanceoftheproposedestimatorisbetterthantheconventionalestimator.
