ThecharactersoforganicmatterinrocksandoresintheFankouandDabaoshandepositsaresystematicallystudiedwithregardtotheirimplicationsformineralization.TheresultsshowthatkerogensinthisareafaaamainlyintotheplutonismfieldinVanKrevelen'sdiagram.Reflectivityoftheorganicsubstancewasmeasuredtobe3.06%(Fankou)and1.67%(Dabaoshan),correspondingtothepaleo-geotemperaturesof232℃and184℃respectively.Thesametypesofporphyrinsandhydrocarbonswererecognizedintherocksandoresandhydrocarbon-bearinginclusionsarewidespreadinquartzandcalcite,particularlyinDabaoshan,Itisthoughtthattheorgainmattermusthaveplayedacriticalroleindiagenesisandmetallizationinthesedepositsandthatthehydrothermalsolutionwasmostlikelytobethetypeofwater-oilhotbrine.
