Motioncontrolcanbeconsideredasthesynergisticcollaborationofmechanicalandelectricalengineering,computerscienceandinformationtechnologytoapplyacontrolledforcetoachieveusefulmotioninfluidorsoiledelectromechanicalsystems.Withthedevelopmentofcomputer,electronics,andautomaticcontroltheory,motioncontrolcomestoanewstage.Greatapplicationsarebasedonthecharacteristics,stemmingfromadvantagesofelectronicsandmoderncontroltechnologyachievements,havingaverygoodloadmatchingproperty.Currently,microprocessor-basedcontrollersareinvariablyusedinmostapplicationsofdriveelectronics.Theobjectofthisworkistodesignapositioncontrolmechanismsystem,whichcanbeusedintestsectionoflowspeedwindtunnel.Systemloadspecificationsandperformancerequirementsaregiven.Acomprehensivestudyofmathematicalmodelingofthemechanismcomponentsisgiven.Procedureforselectionofvariouscomponentswithoptimumparametersisdiscussed.Afterselectionandcalculationofsystemparameterstomeettheperformancerequirements,aPIDcontrolmethodisadopted.
