摘要 Thefreevibrationproblemofrectangularthinplatesisrewrittenasanewuppertriangularmatrixdifferentialsystem.Fortheassociatedoperatormatrix,wefindthatthetwodiagonalblockoperatorsareHamiltonian.Moreover,theexistenceandcompletenessofnormedsymplecticorthogonaleigenfunctionsystemsofthesetwoblockoperatorsaredemonstrated.Basedonthecompleteness,thegeneralsolutionofthefreevibrationofrectangularthinplatesisgivenbydoublesymplecticeigenfunctionexpansionmethod.
