Structural ensemble dynamics based closure model for wall-bounded turbulent flow

摘要 Wall-boundedturbulentflowinvolvesthedevelopmentofmulti-scaleturbulenteddies,aswellasasharplyvaryingboundarylayer.Itstheoreticaldescriptionsareyetphenomenological.Wepresenthereanewframeworkcalledstructuralensembledynamics(SED),whichaimsatusingsystematicallyallrelevantstatisticalpropertiesofturbulentstructuresforaquantitativedescriptionofensemblemeans.AnewsetofclosureequationsbasedontheSEDapproachforaturbulentchannelflowispresented.SEDorderfunctionsaredefined,andnumericallydeterminedfromdataofdirectnumericalsimulations(DNS).ComputationalresultsshowthatthenewclosuremodelreproducesaccuratelythesolutionoftheoriginalNavier-Stokessimulation,includingthemeanvelocityprofile,thekineticenergyofthestream-wisevelocitycomponent,andeverytermintheenergybudgetequation.ItissuggestedthattheSED-basedstudiesofturbulentstructurebuildsabridgebetweenthestudiesofphysicalmechanismsofturbulenceandthedevelopmentofaccuratemodelequationsforengineeringpredictions.
