Inthispaper,recentmeasurementsoftipvortexflowwithandwithoutcavitationcarriedoutinCavitationMechanismTunnelofChinaShipScientificResearchCenter(CSSRC)arepresented.TheelliptichydrofoilwithsectionNACA662-415wasadoptedastestmodel.High-speedvideo(HSV)camerawasusedtovisualizethetrajectoryoftipvortexcoreandtheformoftipvortexcavitation(TVC)indifferentcavitationsituations.LaserDopplervelocimetry(LDV)wasemployedtomeasurethetipvortexflowfieldinsometypicalsectionsalongthevortextrajectorywiththecaseofcavitationfree.Stereoparticleimagevelocimetry(SPIV)systemwasusedtomeasurethevelocityandvorticitydistributionswithandwithoutcavitation.Seriesmeasurementresultssuchasvelocityandvorticitydistributions,thetrajectoryoftipvortexcore,thevortexcoreradius,cavitysizeandcavitationinceptionnumberwereobtained.Theresultsdemonstratedthattheminimumpressurecoefficientinthevortexcoreobtainedbyflowfieldmeasurementwasquitecoincidentwiththetipvortexcavitationinceptionnumberobtainedundertheconditionofhighincomingvelocityandlowaircontent.AndTVCwoulddecreasethevortexstrengthcomparingwiththecasewithoutcavitation.
