Analysis of bulging for high speed continuous casting

摘要 Inordertoresearchthetemperaturedistributionandmechanicaldeformationofslabbulgingduringhighspeedcontinuouscasting,mathematicalmodelshavebeendevelopedtoanalyzethethermalandmechanicalbehavioroftheslab.Thethermalhistoryoftheslabhasbeenpredictedbyatwo-dimensionaltransientfiniteelementheattransfermodel,whoseresultsserveastheinputtothestressmodel.Thestressmodelhasbeenformulatedforatwo-dimensionallongitudinalplane.Inthiscase,themaximumtensilestrainduringthebulgingprocessislocatedatthesolidificationfrontjustpastthetopoftheupstreamroll,whichmaycontributetocrackformation.Themaximumtensilestressesarelocatedatthecoldsurfaceinthemiddleofthetwoback-uprolls,justatthepointofthemaximumbulging.Stressesnearthesolidificationfrontaresmallbecauseofthehightemperatureswhichproducelowerelasticmodulusvalues.Finally,theeffectofthecastingspeedonthebulgingdeformationisdiscussed.
