简介:Seismicsafetyassessmentofgravitydamshasbecomeamajorconcerninmanyregionsoftheworldwhiletheeffectsofverticalseismicaccelerationsontheresponseofstructuresremainpoorlyunderstood.Thispaperfirstinvestigatestheeffectofincludingverticalaccelerationsintheslidingresponseanalysisofgravitydamssubjectedtoarangeofhistoricalgroundmotionrecordsseparatedintwogroupsaccordingtotheirsource-to-sitedistance.Analysesshowedthattheincidenceofverticalaccelerationsontheslidingresponseofgravitydamsissignificantlyhigherfornear-sourcerecordsthanforfarsourcerecords.Thepseudo-static30%loadcombinationrule,commonlyusedinpracticetoaccountforthenon-simultaneousoccurrenceofthepeakhorizontalandverticalaccelerations,yieldedgoodapproximationsoftheminimumsafetyfactorsagainstslidingcomputedfromtime-historyanalyses.Amethodforempiricallyestimatingtheverticalresponsespectrabasedonhorizontalspectra,accountingforthedifferenceinfrequencycontentandamplitudesbetweenthetwocomponentsisinvestigated.Resultsfromanalysesusingspectrumcompatiblehorizontalandverticalsyntheticrecordsalsoapproximatedwelltheslidingresponseofagravitydamsubjectedtoseriesofsimultaneoushorizontalandverticalhistoricalearthquakerecords.
简介:Theconventionalpseudo-staticapproachoftenneglectstheeffectoftheverticalseismicaccelerationonthestabilityofaslope,butsomeanalysesunderplane-strain(2D)conditionsshowasignificanteffectontheslopestability.Thepurposeofthisstudyistoinvestigatetheeffectoftheverticalaccelerationonthesafetyofthree-dimensional(3D)slopes.Inthestrictframeworkoflimitanalysis,a3Dkinematicallyadmissiblerotationalfailuremechanismisadoptedherefor3Dhomogeneousslopesinfrictional/cohesivesoils.Asetofstabilitychartsispresentedinawiderangeofparametersfor3Dslopesundercombinedhorizontalandverticalseismicloadingconditions.Accountingfortheeffectsoftheverticalseismicacceleration,thedifferenceinsafetyfactorsfor3Dslopescanexceed10%,whichwillsignificantlyoverestimatethesafetyofthe3Dslopes.
简介:Theverticaldeformationgradientcanreflecttherateofverticalchangeinunitdistance,andtheverticaldeformationvelocitygradientcanreflectthestrengthoftheearth'scrusttectonicactivities.Inthispaper,usinglongperiodlevelingdatacombinedwithGPSdata,theverticaldeformationgradientvaluesarecalculated.LevelingdataandGPSdataaretwodifferentmeansofmonitoringdeformation,buttheresultisapproximatelythesameverticaldeformationgradient.Theresultsshowthatthespatialdistributionoftheverticaldeformationvelocitygradientandtectonicdistributionhasanobviouscorrelation.ThemostsignificantgradientanomaliesalongtheNorth-SouthSeismicBeltareXianshuihefault,LongmenshanfaultandXiaojiang-Zemuhefault,whilethesecondgradientanomaliesinthenortheasternQinghai-TibetanplateauareZhuanglanghefaultandLenglonglingfault.TheMenyuanM_S6.4earthquakein2016occurredinthisabnormalarea.However,accordingtotheverticaldeformationhighgradientareadistribution,thereisalsothepossibilityofanearthquakeoccurrenceintheTianzhuandJingtaiarea.TheareaofconvergenceofthreemajorfaultzonesisthestrongesttectonicallyactiveregionoftheNorth-SouthSeismicBelt.
简介:Basedontheloadmodelofauniformisotropicsemi-infiniteelasticmedium,wededucedacalculationofverticaldisplacementandtiltandproposedamethodofcalculationofverticaldisplacementsandtiltscausedbyirregularloadonthegroundorundergroundatacertainpointwithtwo-dimensionalandthree-dimensionalshapes.Wecomparedthedifferencebetweenthesimplifiedmodelandtheirregularmodel.Finally,theverticaldisplacementsneartheirregularloadandthedistributionofhorizontaltiltarepresented.Theresultsshowthat,comparedwiththepointsimplifiedmodel,theirregularloadmodelhascertainadvantagesfordescribingthenearfield.Theestablishmentofatwodimensionalirregularloadmodelcanhelpwiththecalculationofthemodalvectorsuperpositionafterloadscattering.Thethree-dimensionalirregularloadmodelcanredistributeloadthroughdifferentweightsgiventothescatteredpointsaftertheloadscattering,andthenobtaindisplacementwiththevectorcalculationmethod.Theresultsofvectorsuperpositioncalculationfromthescatteredirregularloadbothintwo-dimensionsandthree-dimensionsareallconvergentobviouslyasgridsbecomedenser,anditisshownthatthecalculationmethodiscorrectandfeasible.
简介:Inthispaper,weusethedailyrangesoftheverticalmagneticintensityofapproximately76geomagneticstationsfromJanuary1,2008toDecember31,2010toanalyzethespatialandtemporalcharacteristicsofZranges.Theresultsaresummarizedasfollows:(1)Temporally,weuseregressiveanalysisandFFTanalysistoanalyzethedata.TheresultsshowthattheZcomponentdailyrangesofallstationshaveanobviouscyclicalvariation,thecomputedFourierspectraofalldatasetshaveclearlyresolvedtherequiredperiodicitiesinthedata,intheformofdistinctpeaksatdays365,183,22,and73,andthepowerspectraofday365isthehighestinallperiods.(2)Intermsofspatialvariation,thedailyrangesshownonlinearvariationwithlatitudeinChina.Theresultsshowtheexistenceofapointofinflexion(maximalvaluepoint)nearbyatabout25°N,thedailyrangesofZrisefrom15°~25°Nandhaveagoodlineardecreasevariationalongwith25°~50°N.(3)ComparedwiththespatialandtemporalvariationsofZdailyrangeswiththeSqcurrentinversion,wefoundthatthespatialandtemporalcharacteristicsofZrangesaredecidedmainlybythespatio-temporalevolutionoftheSqcurrentsystem.(4)IfthelatitudesofthemaximumamplitudesofvariationoftheverticalcomponentinthegeomagneticquietdaysareroughlytakenasthelatitudescorrespondingtothefociofSqoverheadcurrentsystem,wecanseethattheselatitudesoffocibecomehigherinsummer,arelowestinwinterandhighestduringEquinoxes,displayingconspicuousmonthlyanddailyvariations.Fortwosuccessivegeomagneticquietdays,thelatitudesoffocimayvarytendegrees.

简介:SignificantanomalieswereobservedatthegeomagneticstationsinthesouthwestregionofChinabeforetheYingjiangMS6.1earthquakeandtheLudianMS6.5earthquakein2014.Weprocessedthegeomagneticverticalcomponentdiurnalvariationdatabythespatialcorrelationmethod.TheresultsshowthatduringtheperiodfromApril1toMay20,2014,thereexistedquasi-synchronousdecreasechangesinthecoefficientcurvesbetweenthefivegeomagneticstationsofGuiyang,Hechi,Nanshan,Muli,YongningandXinyiandHongshanstations.Furthermore,therewasahighgradientzoneinthenormalizedcorrelationcoefficientcontourmapwithbackgroundvaluesremoved.TheepicentersoftheYingjiangMS6.1earthquakeandtheLudianMS6.5earthquakearelocatedinthegradientzoneornearthegradientzone.
简介:ThedevastatingMS8.0WenchuanearthquakerupturedtwolargeparallelthrustfaultsalongthemiddlesegmentoftheLongmenshanthrustbelt.PreseismicandpostseismiclevelingdataindicatedthehangingwalloftheYingxiuBeichuan-NanbathrustfaultmainlypresentedcoseismicupliftwithrespecttothereferencepointatPingwucountytown,andtheobservedmaximumupliftof4.7mislocatedatBeichuancounty(Qushantown)whichisabout100mwestofthefaultscarp.ThefootwalloftheYingxiu-Beichuan-Nanbathrustfaultmainlyshowedsubsidencewithmaximumsubsidenceof0.6mneartherupture.Byemployingalistricdislocationmodel,wefoundthatthefaultgeometrymodelofexponentialdipangleδ=88°×[1-exp(-9/h)]withdepthof18kmanduniformthrust-slipof5.6mcouldfittheobservedcoseismicverticaldeformationverywell,whichverifiesthelistricthrustmodeloftheLongmenshanorogeniczone.
