  • 简介:Acompactlinescanningquasi-confocalophthalmoscope(LSO)ispresentedinthisletter.Comparedwithaconventionalscanninglaserophthalmoscope(SLO),thebench-topLSOsignificantlyreducesthesize,complexity,andcostofSLOutilitywithroutineuse.TheLSOusesonemovingparttoproducehigh-contrastandhigh-resolutionquasi-confocalimageswithnearlythesameperformanceasaSLO.TheLSOhasamoderatefieldofview(~10),whichenablesimagesofthemacula,theopticnervehead,andothertargetstobeobtainedmorequicklyandefficiently.Animageoftheopticnerveheadistakeninapreliminaryinvestigationonhumansubjects.Individualnervefiberbundlesandvesselsareresolvedatashallowdepth,withalateralresolutionofnearly10μm.

  • 简介:AIM:Toutilizetissuemicromeasurementtostudytheeffectoftransienthighintraocularpressure(IOP)inducedbydifferentdurationsofsuctionduringlaserinsitukeratomileusis(LASIK)onrabbitretinathickness.·METHODS:SixtyhealthyNewZealandwhiterabbitswererandomlydividedintoacontrolgroup,and3negative-pressuresuctiongroups(20sgroup,45sgroup,and3mingroup)andeachgroupwascomprisedof15rabbits(30eyes);thelatter3groupswerethetransienthighIOPmodels.Theretinaltissuearoundthepapilledemawasseparated.Hematoxylinandeosin(HE)stainingwascarriedouttogenerateslicesforlightmicroscopy.Thechangesintheretinathicknessvaluesofeachlayerweremeasuredforallanimalsineachgroupatdifferentpostoperativerecoveryperiodsandcomparedwiththevaluesrecordedfortheanimalsinthecontrolgroup.Thethicknessoftheretinaltissueshowedanormaldistribution.TheANOVAwasperformedbyusingSPSS13.0statisticsoftware.·RESULTS:Inthecomparisonbetweenthe20sand45snegative-pressuresuctiongroupsandthecontrolgroup,nosignificantdifferenceswereobserved,exceptat14d.Significantdifferencewasobservedbetweenthe3minnegative-pressuresuctiongroupandthecontrolgroup,andtheretinathicknessvalueofeachlayerreachedapeakat14dafterrepair.·CONCLUSION:Conv

  • 简介:Changesinthedistributionof1P1-antigeninthedevelopingchickretinahavebeenexaminedbyindriectimmunofluorescencestainingtechniqueusingthenovelmonoclonalantibody(MAb)1P1.Expressionofthe1P1antigenwasfoundtoberegulatedinradialaswellasintangentialdimensionoftheretina,beingpreferentiallyorexclusivelylocatedintheinnerandouterplexiformlayersoftheneuralretinadependingonthestagesofdevelopment,Withtheonsetoftheformationoftheinnerplexiformlayer1P1antigenbecomesexpressedintheretina.Withprogressingdifferentiationoftheinnerplexiformlayer1P1immunofluorescencerevealed2subbandsatE9and6subandsatE18,Atpostnatalstages(afterP3)immunoreactivitywasreducedinaninside-outsidesequenceleadingtothecompleteabsenceofthe1P1antigeninadulthood.1P1antigenexpressionintheouterplexiformlayerwasalsosubjecttodevelopmentalregulation.Thespation-temporalpatternof1P1antigenexpressionwascorrelatedwiththetimecourseofhistologicaldifferentationofchickretina,namelythesynapserichplexiformlayers.Whetherthe1P1antigenwasfunctionallyinvolvedindendriteextensionandsynapseformationwasdiscussed.
