简介：Despiteitstinyterritory,Macauboastsalargevolumeoftouristactivities,whichservesasthepillarofitseconomy.Environmentandnaturalresourcesarethecornerstoneoftourism,butarealsosubjecttothenegativeimpactoftourism.Basedonthetheoryandmethodologyofecologicalfootprintanalysis,thispapercalculatedthetouristicecologicalfootprintanddeficitofMacauin2009,inanefforttobringtolightthecurrentstatusofexcessiveconsumptionofresourcesbytourism.Asthefindingsshow,thenon-transferabletouristicecologicalfootprintandtouristicecologicaldeficitofMacauin2009arerespectively18300.891ghaand12737.584gha,andtheformeris3.29timesaslargeasthetouristicecologicalcarryingcapacity.TouristicecologicalfootprintofMacauishighlyefficientineconomicsensebutcurrentlytourismisdevelopinginanunsustainablemanner,soappropriateinitiativesareinneedtostrikeabalancebetweentourismdevelopmentandresourceconservationandtopromotethesustainabilityoftourismindustryofMacau.
