简介：Comparedwithtraditionalsynchronousgenerators,windturbinegeneratorsaredifferentinelectricitygenerationprinciples,controlmodesandintegrationtopologies,whichmakestheirfaultcharacteristicschangealot.This,consequently,bringschallengesregardingthebehaviorofprotectionsforwindfarmcollectorsystems.Inthispaper,basedonapracticalwindfarm,configurationandsettingofrelayprotectionsforsuchacollectorsystemisanalyzedanddeterminedsystematicallyinconsiderationoftheselectivityandsensitivityoftheprotections.Resultsshowthatmisoperationofovercurrentrelayandzerosequenceovercurrentrelayofthenon-faultcollectorlineoccurs,andbusdifferentialrelayofcollectorbuscannotremovethesingle-phase-to-groundfault.Inordertosolvetheproblems,anovelsubstation-areaprotectionforcollectorsystemisproposedanditsoperationmechanismisdiscussed.
