  • 简介:Thepaperpresentsa0-Dmodelofanalluvialwatercourseschematizedintwoconnectedreaches,evolvingatthelongtime-scaleandunderthehypothesisofLocalUniformFlow.Eachreachisdefinedbyitsgeometry(constantlengthandwidth,time-changingslope)andgrain-sizecompositionofthebed,whilethesedimenttransportiscomputedusingasedimentratingcurve.Theslopeevolutionisprovidedbya0-Dmassbalanceandtheevolutionofthebedcompositioniscomputedbya0-DHiranoequation.Asystemofdifferentialequations,solvedwithapredictor-correctorscheme,isderivedandappliedtotheschematicwatercoursetosimulatethemorphologicalresponsetochanginginitialconditions,andtheevolutiontowardslong-termequilibriumconditions.Differentlyfromasingle-reach0-Dschematizationwithuniformgrain-size,besidesthesimplificationsadopted,themodelproposedheresimulatesthebehaviourofalluvialriversinaphysically-basedway,showingagrain-sizefininginthedownstreamdirectionaccompaniedbymilderslopes,andatendencytodevelopconcavelongitudinalprofiles.

  • 简介:Anexperimentalstudyonabareflexiblecylinderaswellascylindersfittedwithtwotypesofcross-sectionedhelicalstrakeswascarriedoutinatowingtank.Themainpurposeofthispaperistoinvestigatetheeffectsofstrakes'crosssectiononthevortex-inducedvibrations(VIV)suppressionofaflexiblecylinder.Thesquare-sectionedandroundsectionedhelicalstrakeswereselectedintheexperimentaltests.Theuniformcurrentwasgeneratedbytowingthecylindermodelsalongthetankusingatowingcarriage.TheReynoldsnumberwasintherangeof800–16000.Thestrainresponsesweremeasuredbythestraingagesincross-flow(CF)andin-line(IL)directions.Amodalanalysismethodwasadoptedtoobtainthedisplacementresponsesusingthestrainsignalsindifferentmeasurementpositions.Thecomparisonoftheexperimentalresultsamongthebarecylinder,square-sectionedstrakedcylinderandroundsectionedstrakedcylinderwasperformed.Thehelicalstrakescaneffectivelyreducethestrainamplitude,displacementamplitude,responsefrequenciesanddominantmodesofaflexiblecylinderexcitedbyVIV.Andthemeandragcoefficientsofstrakedcylinderswereapproximatelyconsistentwitheachother.Inaddition,thesquaresectionedandround-sectionedstrakesnearlysharethesimilarVIVreductionbehaviors.Sometimes,thestrakeswithround-sectionrepresentmoreexcellenteffectsontheVIVsuppressionofresponsefrequencythanthosewithsquaresection.

  • 简介:Multi-sensorandmulti-resolutionsourceimagesconsistingofopticalandlong-waveinfrared(LWlR)imagesareanalyzedseparatelyandthencombinedforurbanmappinginthisstudy.Theframeworkofitsmethodologyisbasedonatwo-levelclassificationapproach.Inthefirstlevel,contributionsofthesetwodatasourcesinurbanmappingareexaminedextensivelybyfourtypesofclassifications,i.e.spectral-based,spectral-spatial-based,jointclassification,andmultiplefeatureclassification.Inthesecondlevel,anobjected-basedapproachisappliedtodeclinetheboundaries.Thespecificityofourproposedframeworknotonlyliesinthecombinationoftwodifferentimages,butalsotheexplorationoftheLWlRimageasonecomplementaryspectralinformationforurbanmapping.ToverifytheeffectivenessofthepresentedclassificationframeworkandtoconfirmtheLWlR'scomplementaryroleintheurbanmappingtask,experimentresultsareevaluatedbythegrss_dfc_2014data-set.

  • 简介:Inthisstudy,weexaminealong-termincreasingtrendinsubtropicalpotentialvorticity(PV)intrusioneventsoverthePacificOceaninrelationtotheglobalmeantemperaturerise,basedonmultiplereanalysisdatasets.ThefrequencyofthePVintrusionsiscloselyrelatedtotheupper-troposphericequatorialwesterlyductandthesubtropicaljet(STJ).AnoverallstrengtheningofthewesterlyductandweakeningoftheSTJarefoundtobedrivenbythewarming-inducedstrengtheningofWalkercirculationandregionalchangesinHadleycirculationonmulti-decadaltimescale,leadingtoanincreaseinthePVintrusionfrequencyoverthetropics.Theresultsarerobustinalldatasets.Themulti-decadalstrengtheninginthePacificWalkercirculationisconsistentwiththeglobalmeantemperaturerise.Inthisway,thePVintrusionsarecorrelatedwiththewarmingrelatedglobalmeantemperuaterise.WhentheinterannualvariabilityofENSOisremovedfromtheintrusiontimeseries,thelong-termtrendinPVintrusionsduetoexternalforcingassociatedwithanthropogenicwarming(globalmeantemperaturerise)becomesclearer.Thelinkbetweentheglobalmeantemperatureriseandintrusionfrequencyisfurtherverifiedbyperformingacorrelationanalysisbetweenthetwo.Thesignificant(>95%)correlationcoefficientis0.85,0.94,0.84,0.83,and0.84forERA-40,ERA-Interim,NCEP-NCAR,JRA-55,andJRA-25,respectively.Thisunequivocallyindicatesthattheglobalmeantemperaturerisecanexplainaround69%–88%ofthevariancerelatedtothelong-termincreaseinPVintrusionfrequencyoverthePacificOcean.

  • 简介:ThecycleprocessofthetidalforcenichefortheLudianMs6.5earthquakeoccurringinLudianCounty,YunnanProvince,ChinaonAugust3,2014wascalculated.Theearthquakeoccurrednearthemiddlepointphase.Itindicatesthatthetypeofseismogenicfaultthatthetideforceactedonbelongstothethrustfault.Accordingtothetidalnichecycle,theabnormalOLR(OutgoingLong-waveRadiation)changewasanalyzedbasedonNOAAsatellitedataaroundthewholelandareaofChinabeforeandaftertheearthquake.TheresultshowsthattheOLRchangedevidentlywithtideforcechange.Temporally,thechangewentthroughtheevolutionprocessofinitialOLRrise→strengthening→abnormalpeaking→attenuation→returningtonormal;andspatially,theabnormalareawounditswayalongtheZhaotong-Ludianfaultandwentthroughascattered→conversion→scatteredprocess.Thisprocessissimilartothechangeprocessofrockbreakingunderstressloading.TheresultsindicatethatthetidalforceofacelestialbodycouldtriggeranearthquakewhenthetectonicstressreachesitscriticalbreakingpointandtheOLRanomalyisproportionaltotheseismictectonicstresschange.ItisofgreatusetocombineOLRandtidalforceinearthquakeprecursoryobservation.

  • 简介:TheprojectionofChina'snear-andlong-termfutureclimateisrevisitedwithanew-generationstatisticallydownscaleddataset,NEX-GDDP(NASAEarthExchangeGlobalDailyDownscaledProjections).Thisdatasetpresentsahigh-resolutionseamlessclimateprojectionfrom1950to2100bycombiningobservationsandGCMresults,andremarkablyimprovesCMIP5hindcastsandprojectionsfromlargescaletoregional-to-localscaleswithanunchangedlong-termtrend.Threeaspectsaresignificantlyimproved:(1)theclimatologyinthepastascomparedagainsttheobservations;(2)morereliablenear-andlong-termprojections,withamodifiedrangeofabsolutevalueandreducedinter-modelspreadascomparedtoCMIP5GCMs;and(3)muchaddedvalueatregional-to-localscalescomparedtoGCMoutputs.NEX-GDDPhasgreatpotentialtobecomeawidely-usedhigh-resolutiondatasetandabenchmarkofmodernclimatechangefordiverseearthsciencecommunities.
