NONLINEAR FLUID DAMPING IN STRUCTURE-WAKE OSCILLATORS IN MODELING VORTEX-INDUCED VIBRATIONS

摘要 ANonlinearFluidDamping(NFD)intheformofthesquare-velocityisappliedintheresponseanalysisofVortex-InducedVibrations(VIV).Itsnonlinearhydrodynamiceffectsonthecoupledwakeandstructureoscillatorsareinvestigated.AcomparisonbetweenthecoupledsystemswiththelinearandnonlinearfluiddampingsandexperimentsshowsthattheNFDmodelcanwelldescriberesponsecharacteristics,suchastheamplificationofbodydisplacementatlock-inandfrequencylock-in,bothathighandlowmassratios.Particularly,thepredictedpeakamplitudeofthebodyintheGriffinplotisingoodagreementwithexperimentaldataandempiricalequation,indicatingthesignificanteffectoftheNFDonthestructuremotion.
