摘要 Existingfarfieldexpressionsofsecondorderpotentialsarebynomeanscomplete.Hencetherehasbeennoexactfarfieldexpressionofsecondorderpotentials.InthispaperthefarfieldexpressionforΦd(2)ispurposelyavoidedindeducingtheformulaeofsecondorderforcesandaseriesoffunctionsΦdRnareused.Thefarfieldexpressionofisgiven,whichfor(x,U,z)∈Σ,φdRn(2)φd(2).Usingthesepropertiesformulaeforcalculatingsecondorderdiffractionforcesareobtained.Tocalculatetheintegral∫∫1/gfΨdsitisdividedintotwoparts.Oneistheintegraloverafinitedomainandthefunctionundertheintegraliscontinuous,sotheusualapproximateintegrationformulaemaybeused.Theotheristheintegraloveraninfinitedomain.Usingthefarfieldexpressionoffirstorderpotentials,formulaeforcalculatingtheintegraltomeetgivenaccuraciesaregiven.Themooringforceinsurgedirectionisusedforcomparisonbetweennumericalpredictionsandexperimentalmeasurements.Thepredictedresultsarecheckedagainstthemeasuredvalueinaspeciallydesignedtest.Inthelowfrequencydomainofinterest,themooringforcesinsurge,forcalculatedandexperimentalspectraareingoodconsistencysolongasthedampingcoefficientsischoosenappropriately.
