Air-sea carbon fluxes and their controlling factors in the Prydz Bay in the Antarctic

摘要 ThePrydzBayintheAntarcticisanimportantareaintheSouthernOceanduetoitsuniquegeographicfeature.ItplaysanimportantroleinthecarboncycleintheSouthernOcean.Toinvestigatethedistributionsofcarbondioxideintheatmosphereandsurfaceseawateranditsair-seaexchangeratesinthisregion,theChineseNationalAntarcticResearchExpedition(CHINARE)hadsetupseveralsectionsinthePrydzBay.HerewepresenttheresultsfromtheCHINARE-XVIcruiseswerepresentedonboardR/VXuelongfromNovember1999toApril2000andthemaindrivingforceswerediscussedcontrollingthedistributionsofpartialpressureofcarbondioxide.Accordingtothepartialpressureofcarbondioxidedistributions,thePrydzBaycanbedividedintotheinsideandoutsideregions.Thepartialpressureofcarbondioxidewaslowintheinsideregionbuthigherintheoutsideregionduringthemeasurementperiod.Thisdistributionhadagoodnegativecorrelationwiththeconcentrationsofchlorophyll-aingeneral,suggestingthatthepartialpressureofcarbondioxidewassubstantiallyaffectedbybiologicalproduction.TheresultsalsoindicatethatthebiologicalproductionismostlikelythemaindrivingforceinthemarginalicezoneintheSouthernOceaninsummer.However,intheAntarcticdivergencesectorofthePrydzBay(about64°S),thehydrologicalprocessesbecomethecontrollingfactorastheseasurfacepartialpressureofcarbondioxideismuchhigherthantheatmosphericoneduetotheupwellingofthehighDICCDW,andthismadetheoutsideofPrydzBayasourceofcarbondioxide.Onthebasisofthecalculations,theCO2fluxinJanuary(australsummer)was-3.23mmol/(m2·d)intheinnerpartofPrydzBay,i.e.,asinkofatmosphericCO2,andwas0.62mmol/(m2·d)intheoutsidepartofthebay,aweaksourceofatmosphericCO2.Theaverageair-seafluxofCO2inthePrydzBaywas2.50mmol/(m2·d).
