摘要
SimWallisauser-friendly,stereotileddisplaywallsystemcomposedof18commodityprojectorsoperatedbyaLinuxgraphicscluster.Collaboratingtogether,theseprojectorsworkasasinglelogicaldisplaycapableofgivingahigh-resolutionshow,large-scale,andpassivestereoscene.Inordertoavoidtedioussystemsetupandmaintenance,software-basedautomaticgeometryandphotometriccalibrationareused.Thesoftwarecalibrationisintegratedtothesystemseamlesslybyanon-cardtransformmethodandistransparenttousers.Toend-users,SimWallworksjustasacommonPC,butprovidessupercomputing,renderinganddisplayingability.Inaddition,SimWallhasstereoscopicfunctionthatgivesusersasemi-immersiveexperienceinpolarizedpassiveway.Thispaperpresentssystemarchitecture,implementation,andothertechnicalissuessuchashardwareconstraints,projectorsalignment,geometryandphotometriccalibration,implementationofpassivestereo,anddevelopmentofoverallsoft-wareenvironment.
