Theinductionofinfertilityinmalesofseveralspeciesthroughepididymalinterferenceismoredifficulttoachievebyreductionoftheamountsofepididymalsecretions(ega-glucosidase,L-camifine)orimmunologicalinterferencewithsecretedproteins(egD/E,P34H,P26h)thanbydirectactionsofdrugsonspermfunction(eginhibitionofglyceraldehyde3-phosphatedehydrogenasebychloro-compounds).Thelatterapproachholdspromiseformankindashumanspelmaresusceptibletoglycolyticinhibition.Futurecontraceptivedevelopmentsmayarisefromproductionoftargetedinhibitors,researchonthedisplacementofspermproteinsintheepididymisandinterferencewithspermplasmamembraneionchannels.(As/anJAndrof1999Jun;1:29-36)
