摘要
Developmentandtestingofaseriallymultiplexedfiberopticsensorsystemisdescribed.Thesensordiffersfromconventionalfiberopticacousticsystems,asitiscapableofsensingAEemissionsatseveralpointsalongthelengthofasinglefiber.Multiplexingprovidesforsinglechanneldetectionofcracksandtheirlocationsinlargestructuralsystems.AnalgorithmwasdevelopedforsignalrecognitionandtaggingoftheAEwaveformsfordetectionofcracklocations.Laboratoryexperimentsonplainconcretebeamsandpost-tensionedFRPtendonswereperformedtoevaluatethecrackdetectioncapabilityofthesensorsystem.Theacousticemissionsensorwasabletodetectinitiation,growthandlocationofthecracksinconcreteaswellasintheFRPtendons.TheAEsystemispotentiallysuitableforapplicationsinvolvinghealthmonitoringofstructuresfollowinganearthquake.
