Adiodelaserarray(DLA)positionedinanexternalcavitycanreceivetheradiationsemittedfromitsneighboringelements(C1)andthatofitself(S)afterbeingreflectedattheDLAfacetaswellasfromtheexternalmirror(C0).Consideringthefactthat|C0/S|shouldbelargerthanunityiftheexternalcavityiseffective,and|C1/S|shouldbelargerthanunityifthephaselockingmaybeestablishedintheexternalcavity.Therequirementsonthereflectionatthefacetofthediodelaserarrayhavebeenspecifiedintermsofthecavitylengthandreflectioncoefficientoftheexternalmirror.
