摘要
ThispaperdescribesbrieflytherecentadvancesandacievementsoftheresearchprojectsconductedbytheInstituteofEngineeringMechanics(IEM)intheperiodoftheNinthFive-YearPlan(1995-2000)withthesupportoftheChinaSeismologicalBureau(CSB),Theseprojectsarerelatedwithkeyproblemsinthefieldofearthquakeengineering.Theyare:developmentofthemethodsfordeterminingearthquakeresistantdesignloadlevel,studyonmechanismsofearthquakedamagetobuildings.developmentofnewtechnologyofbaseisolation,andstudyonearthquakedamagepredictionandseismiclosssassessmentmethods.Throughthesestudies,quiteanumberofproblemshaveeensolvedandsomeofthemhaveeenappliedinearthquakeengineeringdesignandpractice.
