Thebehaviouroftherare-earthelements(REE)duringtheweatheringofgraniteswasstudiedinsouthernGuangxi,China.Basedonthestudyoftheweatheringprofiles,thesoil,weatheredandsub-weaterebzonesareidentifiedwithdifferentREEgeochemicalbehavioursthrougtheweatheringprofilesofgranite.TheCeanomaliesoftheweatheringprofilescoveralargerangeofvalueswithmostfallingbetween1.02and1.43inthesoilzoneand0.16and0.40intheweatheredandsub-weatheredzones.Lightrare-earthelements(LREE)andheavyrare-earthelements(HREE)areenrichedtovaryingdegreeintheweatheringprofilesascomparedtohostgranites.Inthesoilzone,moreHREEsareleachedthanLREEs,andHREEsaremoreenrichedthanLREEintheweatheredandsub-weatheredzones.ItisconsideredthatinfiltrationandadsorptiononclaysaretwoprocessescontrollingtheenrichmentandformationofREEdepositsintheweatheringprofilesofgranite.
