Inthispaper,theoriginalprocessofvari-tonedsongintheMingmingcicadaisrevealed,andthebrand-newrecognitionforstudiesofthesongmechanismincicadasisopenedup.Eachvari-tonedsylla-ble"Weiying"iscomposedof"Wei"withthebasicsound（BS）asthedominanttoneand"ying"withtheupperpartials（UP2）asthedominanttone,andtheupperpartials（UP1）isasoundaccompanimentoflowintensity.TheBS,UP1andUP2areproducedbyvibrationsofthelongribsLR2,3andLR1insoundingmembranedriven,separately,bytwokindsofthetwichinsoundingmuscle,"Wei"and"ying"areseparatelyproducedbytheprin-subordinatevibrationsofLR2,3-LR1andLR1-LR2,3TheLR1andLR2,3areanalogoustoastringtensionedtwoendsandabeamhingedtwoendswithaloadinthemiddlerespectively.ObtainedtheacousticpropertiesofsoundingvibrationarenotonlysuitedtothestructuralcharacteristicsofLR1,2,3butalsoconsistbasicallywiththeacous-ticpropertiesofsong.
