摘要 WithintheCNSnuclearfactor-kappaB(NF-κB)transcriptionfactorsareinvolvedinawiderangeoffunctionsbothinhomeostasisandinpathology.Overtheyears,ourandothergroupsproducedavastarrayofinformationonthecomplexinvolvementofNF-κBproteinsindifferentaspectsofpostnatalneurogenesisInparticular,severalextracellularsignalsandmembranereceptorshavebeenidentifiedasbeingabletoaffectneuralprogenitorcells(NPC)andtheirprogenyviaNF-κBactivation.AcrucialroleintheregulationofneuronalfatespecificationinadulthippocampalNPCisplayedbytheNF-κBp50subunit.NF-κBp50KOmicedisplayaremarkablereductioninadulthippocampalneurogenesiswhichcorrelateswithaselectivedefectinhippocampal-dependentshort-termmemory.MoreoverabsenceofNF-κBp50canprofoundlyaffecttheinvitroproneurogenicresponseofadulthippocampalNPC(ahNPC)toseveralendogenoussignalsanddrugs.HereinwebrieflyreviewthecurrentknowledgeonthepivotalroleofNF-κBp50intheregulationofadulthippocampalneurogenesis.InadditionwediscussmorerecentdatathatfurtherextendtherelevanceofNF-κBp50tonovelastroglia-derivedsignalswhichcaninfluenceneuronalspecificationofahNPCandtoastrocyte-NPCcross-talk.
