DuringthedevelopingphaseofcentralPacificElNio(CPEN),morefrequentTCgenesisoverthenorthwestquadrantofthewesternNorthPacific(WNP)isattributedtothehorizontalshiftofenvironmentalvorticityfield.SuchanorthwestwardshiftresemblestheLaNiacomposite,eventhoughfactorsthatcausetheshiftdiffer(intheLaNiacasetherelativehumidityeffectiscrucial).GreaterreductionofTCfrequencyoverWNPhappenedduringthedecayingphaseofeasternPacificElNio(EPEN)thanCPEN,duetothedifferenceoftheanomalousPhilippineSeaanticyclonestrength.TheTCgenesisexhibitsanupward(downward)trendoverthenorthern(southern)partoftheWNP,whichislinkedtoSSTandassociatedcirculationchangesthroughlocalandremoteeffects.
