摘要 TheavailabledataontidalcurrentsspanningperiodsgreaterthansixmonthsforthecontinentalshelfoftheEastChinaSea(26°30.052′N,122°35.998′E)wereanalyzedusingseveralmethods.TidalCurrentHarmonicAnalysisresultsdemonstratedthatsemi-diurnaltidesdominatedthecurrentmovement.Thetidalcurrentsoftheprincipaldiurnalandsemidiurnalrotatedclockwisewithdepth,withthedeflectionofthemajorsemi-axestotherightintheupperlayerandtotheleftinthelowerlayer.Theverticalstructuresoftwoprincipalsemi-diurnalconstituents-M2andS2-weresimilar,whichindicatesthatthetidalcurrentsaremainlybarotropicinthisarea.Themainfeaturesofthevariationofthefourprincipaltidalconstituentswithdepthdemonstratethatthecurrentsinthisregionareinfluencedbytheupperandlowerboundarylayers.Therefore,thetidalconstituentsoftheshallowwateraresimilar.DifferentverticalmodeswerecalculatedbasedontheEmpiricalOrthogonalFunction(EOF)analysisoftheEasternandNortherncomponentsofthetidalcurrents,withavariancecontributionforthezero-ordermodelofatleast90%.Thevariancecontributionofthebaroclinicmodelisminimal,whichfurtherrevealsastrongbarotropiccharacterforthetidalcurrentsofthisregion.
