摘要 TheYangtzeRiveristhelargestriverinChina,about6,300kilometreslongwithadrainageareaandpopulationaccountingfor18.8percentand33percentrespectivelyinChina.AimingatincreasingforestandvegetationareasonthemiddleandupperreachesoftheYangtzeRivertocontrolwaterandsoilerosion,theChinesegovernmentin1989decidedtocommenceaconstructionprojectfortheprotectionoftheforestsystemonthemiddleandupperreachesoftheYangtzeRiver.Theprojectcovers645counties(citiesanddistricts)in13provinces,
