IntroductionSomewritingisgoodinsentencestructurebuteitherpoorincoherenceorincohesion.Theproblemofcoherenceisthatthesequenceofinformationisnotalwaysclearandtheproblemofcohesionisthatthesequenceofinformationisacceptable,whiletheconnectionbetweenitisnotsogood.Thequestionishowtoanalyzeandimprovethesedifferentweaknessinwriting.Wehavetwomethods.Onetofocusoncoherence,theothertofocusoncohesion.Inthisessay,themethodusedisbasedontheprinciplethatcoherenceandcohesionshouldworktogether.Iusethisapproachasatooltoeditanddisplaytheanalysisofcoherenceandcohesioninthepassageentitled’Father&Son".ThispassageispresentedasaguidedwritingexerciseinCollegeEnglishCourse,IntensiveReading,Band3,p271.
