AnellipticalwindfieldmodeloftyphoonsisputforwardbasedonthecharacteristicsofthetyphoonwindfieldsoccurringintheYellowSeaandBohaiSea.Bycontrastingitwiththecirculartyphoonwindfieldmodel,itisfoundthattheellipticalmodelcanadequatelyrepresenttherealwindfieldandtracetheprocessofatyphoonstormsurge.Thenumericallysimulatedresultsofstormsurgesbyusingtheellipticalmodelareingoodagreementwiththeobservationsandmarkedlybetterthanthosebyusingthecircularmodel.
