Undisturbedsoilcorewithmanymacroporesanddisturbedsoilcorewithonlyonemacropore(diameteris10mm)wereprobedbyx-raycomputedtomography(CT).Thesize,number,shapeandcontinuityofmacroporesinthetransverseandverticalsectionsofsoilwerecharacterizedusingCTscanningimages.TheprobabilitydensitiesofmacroporesinthetransversesectionofsoilcoreexhibitedalogarithmicΓdistribution.ResultsindicatedthatCTscanningwasapromisingnondestructivemethodforcharacterizingmacroporesinsoils.
